New Australian search engine On-Shopping.com.au goes against the grain.

Australia's first search engine with a strict policy of not allowing banners or pop-ups has been launched.

(PRWEB) January 9, 2004 --On-Shopping (www.on-shopping.com.au) aims to make it quick and easy for people to locate Australian shopping and services sites without having to wade through the annoying advertising clutter such as banners and pop-ups.

"People are getting fed up with distracting on-line advertising" says On-Shopping founder Peter Da Vanzo. "No one wants endless pop-ups and intrusive advertising when they browse the web. We've decided to provide a clutter-free search engine".

On-Shopping.com.au focuses solely on Australian based shopping and services sites. This will also help ensure the results are more relevant to a local audience.

"We don't aim to compete with the bigger search engines, but rather provide a complementary service that makes it easy for people to locate relevant local shopping sites quickly" Da Vanzo says. "For this reason, we are staying focused on Australian B2C shopping and services. We aim for quality listings and relevance, as opposed to indexing sites that have little to offer an Australian audience".

Another feature that is sure to please Australian site owners is a "Free listing" policy. While some search engines charge web owners to be listed, On-Shopping provides free listings for Australian web owners who own sites that qualify. "We want to provide a useful and focused resource that benefits both the end-user and the webmaster", say Da Vanzo. Listings are free for qualifying Australian-focused shopping and services sites.

As a result of this approach, people using the On-Shopping search engine will be able to locate quality Australian shopping sites quickly and easily, and won't be subjected to annoying banner ads and intrusive pop-up advertising. "Providing a great user experience for an Australian audience is central to what we do" says Da Vanzo.
