Gene Wright's Second Novel Released

Filled with deceptions and dangers, action and adventure, lust and greed, ignorance and devotion to reason--all leavened by the wit of Jerry Valdez--NOBODY KNOWS HIS NAME is a story about thriftless ambition, about what happens when greed overpowers virtue.

(PRWEB) January 10, 2004 --The Texas hill country around Boerne is the setting of a new novel-a mystery-by Gene Wright. An English Professor at the University of North Texas, Gene Wright is a native Texan who has spent years exploring the flora and fauna of the Texas hill country.

The novel, Nobody Knows His Name, follows the investigations of Sheriff Jerry Valdez of Kendall County as he searches for the identity of a body found in the woods of Kendall County-and for the murderer. A Las Vegas gambling token and some botanical residue found in the victims pants cuffs are the only clues, and they are of little immediate use. Valdez travels to Austin, Denton, and to the Chihuahuan Desert in Mexico in search of a particular plant that might help identify the victim. Other problems in the county combine to hinder the sheriffs investigation into the murder: charges of sexual harassment filed against one of the deputies, complaints of prostitutes at truck-stops in the county, a libelous newspaper editorial, attempted murder. An ever-present danger is the existence in the area of an organized-crime organization. But with the aid of Chief Deputy Archie Crane, the FBI, the INS, and other acquaintances and associates, Valdez works to uncover the mystery. Filled with deceptions and dangers, actions and adventure, lust and greed, ignorance and devotion to reason-all leavened by the wit of Valdez-Nobody Knows His Name is principally a story about thriftless ambition, about what happens when greed overpowers virtue.

Wrights exceptional new novel follows his critically acclaimed first novel, Run, Run As Fast As You Can. Both novels are published by America House Publishers. Both Run, Run As Fast As You Can and Nobody Knows His Name, are available at most book stores and on-line from PublishAmerica.com, Amazon.com, and BarnesandNobel.com.
