(PRWEB) January 12, 2004 --In a move sure to stir up more controversy the membership of Harleysville Fire Company have presented a letter to the President of the organization demanding that in accordance with state laws he convene a special meeting to discuss his as well other members of the executive team's impeachment.

This new effort led by Jeff Depew, a long time member and EMS officer is spurred on by the meeting of January 6, where the Fire Company's President, Ken Keith refused for more than four hours to even acknowledge the memberships' desire to vote on the sale of the EMS division's assets to VMSC of Lansdale.

The letter requests that Mr. Keith convene this meeting prior to February 1 and cites several state laws that may have been violated by Mr. Keith in conjunction with the sale.

Mr. Depew was asked why he took this action and said, "As a member of this organization I can not stand back and watch as people with limited or no EMS experience make decisions that affect the lives of thousands of residents, including my family and loved ones."

Mike Kalinsky, another EMS officer had this to say, "All one needs to do is go back and read the quotes attributed to Mr. Keith in the local newspapers dating back to November. Starting with the first article to the most recent ones he has made contradictory and in many cases non-factually based comments. The only research done on these sales was statistics provided by Montgomery County. Everyone knows that statistics can be made to say anything we want. The real issue in this township is the takeover of the Fire Company by people with an agenda to try and turn the clock back ten years when Fire and EMS was still a volunteer / social club atmosphere. Those days are gone."
