Cirque du Soleil Celebrity to Speak at Grand Opening Celebration on Behalf of Local Houston Texas Non-Profit
The Houston Buyers Club (HBC) announced today it will host a Grand Opening Celebration Thursday, January 15, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at its new location - 3224 Yoakum Boulevard.
Houston, TX (PRWEB) January 12, 2004 --Guest of Honor will be Matthew Cusick, a famed Russian high bar performer and HIV activist. Cusick, who was recently fired from Cirque du Soleil, is suing the company for discrimination against people with HIV. AIDS activists around the country support Cusick and claim his HIV-positive status poses no threat to other performers, despite the high-risk nature of his acrobatic act.
When asked about the new location, HBC Executive Director Fred Walters, said, We are very proud of our new (and larger) facility. But, we are most proud that the larger space will allow HBC to further expand our services to those living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses." Walters further stated, Amidst the celebration of our new location, we must remember that the battle to cure AIDS and AIDS phobias is a long way from being won."
