"The Payback", author Hilary Hawke's first published novel, is a dark thriller inspired by her up-close look at the Manhattan call girl scene. Gritty, raw and realistic, the author holds nothing back as she takes the reader on a horrifying journey through the New York City underworld. Riveting, staggering, compelling and superb are just a few of the adjectives reviewers have used to describe "The Payback".

During her days as a professional musician, author Hilary Hawke often took odd jobs to tide her over between gigs. She worked as a NYC cabdriver, a waitress, a florist, a bank teller, a telephone marketer and, inadvertently, a receptionist in a Sutton Place Brothel. Her dark thriller, "The Payback", is loosely based on her up-close look at the high-class Manhattan call girl trade.

About two women from different worlds brought together by chance, "The Payback" chronicles their struggle to overcome the dependence on female sexuality as a commodity.
