Author's Dark Thriller Inspired by Glimpse of Brothel Life
"The Payback", author Hilary Hawke's first published novel, is a dark thriller inspired by her up-close look at the Manhattan call girl scene. Gritty, raw and realistic, the author holds nothing back as she takes the reader on a horrifying journey through the New York City underworld. Riveting, staggering, compelling and superb are just a few of the adjectives reviewers have used to describe "The Payback".
PATERSON, NJ (PRWEB) January 13, 2004 -- During her days as a professional musician, author Hilary Hawke often took odd jobs to tide her over between gigs. She worked as a NYC cabdriver, a waitress, a florist, a bank teller, a telephone marketer and, inadvertently, a receptionist in a Sutton Place Brothel. Her dark thriller, "The Payback", is loosely based on her up-close look at the high-class Manhattan call girl trade.
About two women from different worlds brought together by chance, "The Payback" chronicles their struggle to overcome the dependence on female sexuality as a commodity.
"The Payback" was recently selected as one of 36, from a catalog of 12,000 titles, for inclusion in the prestigious new iUniverse Star Program, an imprint developed to showcase the publishers best books. The only New Jersey author chosen, Ms. Hawke has also earned the Editors Choice designation.
"The Payback" can be ordered at www.hilaryhawke.com, at any bookstore or online at, amazon.com, bn.com, booksamillion.com, and iUniverse.com.
