Geek Chic Releases The Chill Pak: Notebook Cooling System

X-Files Actor Dean Haglunds Company to Produce Suite of Innovative Computer Peripherals

LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) January 13, 2004 --The Geek Chic Company announced today that The Chill-Pak, a gel pack with a condensation-proof cover that cools laptops, is now available online at www.chillpak.com. The unit, which improves performance and comfort, sells for about twenty dollars ($20.00).

Founder and President Dean Haglund, known as the hacker Langly" on the hit series The X-Files, devised the idea for The Chill-Pak while icing a knee injury.

I noticed that my notebook processing speeds improved when I had the gel pack on my knee with the computer on top of it. Todays slimmer laptops have sacrificed the efficacy of their internal cooling systems and they get incredibly hot which affects their performance. This is an inexpensive way to deal with that problem."

The Chill-Pak features and capabilities:
•   Cools Your Notebook
•   Protects your valuable investment and reduces heat-related instability.
•   Works great with both Macs and PCs
•   No power consumption
•   No batteries or power adapter needed
•   Completely quiet
•   Inexpensive

The Chill-Pak is also available in custom sleeves which can be embossed with corporate logos, school mascots and other unique designs. Additionally, Geek Chic will release newer versions of the Chill-Pak that include foam padding, chemical cooling and radiation-resistant covers in the near future.

Haglund continued, Alternate cooling systems run in the hundreds of dollars and often cause screen waves and other interference problems. We have found an easy way to eliminate all of those problems for gamers and other notebook users."

For gamers and other power users, The Chill-Pak offers a great way to reduce heat-related instability while overclocking". Overclocking is a popular method of running a processor at a higher clock speed than labeled (e.g.: 2.4GHz or 2.4 billion pulses per second) by increasing the rate at which clock pulses occur. The major limitation of clock speeds is the heats detrimental effects on processors and because the Chill-Pak accelerates the wicking" effect of this heat, overclocking is less detrimental to the performance of the processor.

Said gamer Peter Bedell, I love it when Im on the road. I can get the best possible performance out of my laptop without worrying about having it lock up on me or slow down because of the heat."
