Author Raised in Religious Cult Begins Fascinating Life Story

Christian Cloud Abraham begins fascinating account of life in and out of the religious cult, The Way International, in his first book, The Secret Curse Surrenders."

Lakewood, OH (PRWEB) January 14, 2004 - Christian Cloud Abraham has a lot to write about. Raised until the age of twenty in the Midwest-based religious cult, The Way International, Christian experienced more than some people do in a lifetime. The Secret Curse Surrenders" (iUniverse, 2003) is the first book in the collection, Journals," which will tell Christian's fascinating tale.

Excerpted from personal journals written over a 10-year period (1992-2002) during his years in Arizona, Oregon, and New Jersey, Christian introduces himself as a human being, exposing the influence of his fundamentalist roots on his psyche.

"The most important aspect of selecting entries for 'The Secret Curse Surrenders," Christian explains, "was allowing readers to meet me as a person first, and prove that I could write about something besides The Way, and write it well. So I chose passages that give the reader an introduction to my emotions through life experiences, prose, observations, and fictional swatches. But the thoughts presented in this book will become even more relevant as the next two books in the collection unfold more of the facts."

Humorous, insightful, powerful and imaginative, The Secret Curse Surrenders" is the result of the clashing of two realities: the ideologies that shaped Abrahams unique upbringing during adolescence, pitted against the stark contrasts placed before him upon his emergence into the secular world as a young adult.

Through it all -- his obsession with typewriters, his search for balance, his fascination with Kafka, Miller and Campbell, the pains and pleasures of drinking, and his allegorical journey into the Labyrinth (to name a few) -- one thing remained constant: an unadulterated passion for the act of (art of) writing.

...When there is nothing to write on or with -- no paper, no pen, no computer, no nothing -- inspiration is a practice in suffocation. A practice in holding your breath on a thought, trying to make the epiphany last, and slowly drowning as you sink to the bottom grasping this inspiration, not wanting to exhale, till slowly, under compression, the thought is pushed out. You board the ovarian trolley back to reality, leaving your thought drifting along the sub-conscious of your mind to be nibbled on by the creatures of time and the decaying dark below."

Skillfully compiled, The Secret Curse Surrenders" sends the reader on a sometimes surreal, often gritty real journey into one mans psyche, reaching a fever pitch before settling into a feeling of tranquility, reminiscent of a post-orgasmic calm.

Life is full of secrets and mystery and during our lives we unravel a select few. So what, exactly, is Christian's secret curse? Well, youll have to read the book to find out.
