BNSF and BNSF Logistics align with Auto-Log to provide automobile relocation service.

BNSF Logistics, LLC. and AutoLog Corporation announce the initiation of a new auto transport (CAR-RAIL) service geared towards the needs of snowbirds.

(PRWEB) January 14, 2004 --BNSF Logistics, LLC., a wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF), has entered into a marketing and operations alliance with Autolog Corporation, one of the oldest and largest transporters of privately owned vehicles, and BNSF Railway, another wholly owned subsidiary of BNSF, to bring a Car-Rail service between Phoenix and Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul and New York City. This Car-Rail service caters to the needs of snowbirds", people with dual residencies who spend the winter in Arizona. The service will be managed by Autologs Car-Rail division and coordinated through BNSF Logistics CarsOnTrack program.

Effective March 8, 2004, the Car-Rail service will commence operations on a route from Phoenix to three (3) major metropolitan areas Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul and New York City. We are very excited about the opportunity to align with BNSF which has such a rich heritage", says Myron Levine, President of Autolog Corporation.

At present, more than 250,000 persons reside in the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas during the winter months and return to homes in the Mid-West and the Northeast in the spring. They have only two alternatives regarding the transport of their personal vehicle: Option 1, drive the vehicle themselves, or Option 2, hire an independent trucking firm. The typical cost associated with either of these options is in excess of $800.    Levine says, Additional perils exist when utilizing an independent trucking company not the least of which includes excessive transit time, often exceeding two weeks."

Robert Sutton, BNSF Logistics, Director of Operations, adds, Clients who utilize the Car-Rail service receive a reliable, lower cost, safe and timely method of transporting their vehicles." The CarsOnTrack operation will provide sufficient fully enclosed auto-haulers to protect the vehicles of people in the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas. The average transit time for vehicles utilizing the Car-Rail service to the Midwest will take approximately 7-10 days versus 14-21 days for an independent trucking company and the cost to transport a normal size car will start at $450.

On Thursday, January 22, 2004 at 10:00 MST, BNSF Logistics and Autolog will host a press conference at the BNSF Car-Rail terminal located at 11925 Thompson Ranch Road in El Mirage, AZ. At the press conference, we will exhibit the fully enclosed auto-hauling equipment and demonstrate the vehicle loading process. For further information regarding this press conference, contact Robert Sutton at BNSF Logistics at 479-872-4637 or Myron Levine at Autolog Corporation @ 1-800-367-7201. Persons wishing to make reservations for the transport of their cars should call Autolog Corporation at 1-877-AUTOLOG or 1-877-288-6564.
