Health News...Help Protect Children from Head Lice

Tips on How To Prevent Head Lice

(PRWEB) January 15, 2004 --(New York) Consumer Reports states that more than 10-12 million cases of head lice are diagnosed each year.

According to the FDA, lice are getting more resistant to over the counter treatments. Each year schools, daycare centers and summer camps send those letters home to parents announcing a lice outbreak. In warmer climates, head lice are a year round problem and it is getting worse. So what are parents to do? What is the key to eradicating head lice...the key is PREVENTION.
For thousands of years, the use of herbs and essential oils has been shown to prevent head lice. Ancient Chinese and Hebrew texts show how tea tree, lavender and geranium were used to prevent lice and rosemary oil was even used during the Crusades. Here are some ways that parents can help protect their children from those inevitable outbreaks. A few tips:
•   Tell your child never to use another childs brush or comb
•   Never share hats
•   Keep long hair up in a braid or bun
•   Do not shampoo every day, lice like clean hair...not dirty!
•   If a lice outbreak occurs, have your child keep his/her coat in a bag
•   During an outbreak, sit your child down and go thru the hair with a fine tooth comb under a bright light
•   If your child does have head lice, follow treatment directions --do not leave on hair longer than recommended
•   Use a safe and effective method of shampooing to help prevent head lice such as Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel® Hair Care products
Fairy Tales Hair Care for Children has developed a line of all natural, organic hair care that has been shown to prevent head lice. Using the Rosemary Repel® 3-tiered system of layering the hair with pure oils of rosemary, lavender, tea tree, geranium and citronella these products have been shown to be remarkably effective in preventing lice. Using the shampoo, leave-in conditioner or leave-in spray and an alcohol free styling gel to provide the final seal on the hair, Fairy Tales is a safe and effective method of prevention. Fairy Tales is sold in salons and online at www.fairytales4hair.com. Suggested retail price per bottle is $9.00-$10.00. To learn more, please visit the site or call 1-888-244-1990.
