They Can Talk, But Can They Walk?
Authors of Model's Workbook challenge TV and radio personalities and newscasters to learn how to do a model's runway walk to earn money for their favorite charity.
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) January 15, 2004 -There is no $11 million diamond encrusted bra and no modeling contract to be won. America's Catwalk Challenge is not another runway show or modeling contest. The contestants are TV and radio announcers and personalities and they don't necessarily look like models; they could be any size, shape or gender.
Laura Boulay and William Squire, co-authors of The Models Workbook: A Hollywood Agents Twenty Step Guide to Launching Your Modeling Career, created America's Catwalk Challenge because TV and radio interviewers often ask them how models "walk like that." Using their five-step method, Boulay and Squire will teach the hosts of TV and radio news and talk shows how to walk like a model. They will videotape each host and post the videos on the modelsworkbook.com web site for people to view and vote on who they believe does the best model's runway walk. The media personality who has collected the most votes on the web site by November 2004 wins the contest and receives a check made out to his or her favorite charity. Boulay and Squire will donate one dollar from the sale of each copy of The Model's Workbook sold in 2004 to the charity of the winner's choice.
"With all the attention that 'America's Next Top Model' and other modeling contests have received, we thought it would be fun to hold a contest that included non-professionals," Boulay said.
"Even people who don't want to be models want to feel confident," Squire added, "so we think that even if you don't look like a model, you can have fun walking like one...and we won't make the men wear heels."
For people who do want to be models, Boulay and Squire offer solid career advice and practical information in their book and in their two-day intensive Model's Workshops, the first of which is being held at the Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California on February 28 and 29.
