(PRWEB) January 16, 2004 --Artist Michael Raleigh, of Englewood, New Jersey, has been selected to exhibit his work, "Easter Parade", a mixed media composition on canvas, in the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts 2004 International Juried Show in Summit, New Jersey.
Mr. Raleigh's selection for this prestigious international event was especially significant as his piece was one of only 108 works chosen for exhibition from 1,460 artist slide entries from 12 countries. The juror for this exhibition is Carlotta Kotik, Curator and Chair of Contemporary Art at The Brooklyn Museum of Art.
The artist states, Easter Parade" is a mixed media piece comprised of family photographs, acrylic paint, pencil, paper, and Vetrap bandaging tape on canvas. Images of my childhood family are used to create an ongoing visual fictionalized biography. As with all biography, my life is equal parts truth and fiction. Easter Parade is a memory of childhood and family ritual frozen in a moment, apart from the forward movement of time. As with much of my work, Easter Parade is a ghost story."
Mr. Raleighs work has been exhibited in numerous international and regional juried shows, including the New York Times reviewed Abstraction 2003 at Stage Gallery in Merrick, NY. His collected works may be viewed online at www.michaelraleigh.com.
The exhibition will run from January 25 to March 17, 2004. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, January 25 th from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. A panel discussion will be held on Sunday, February 22nd at 2:00 pm.
The New Jersey Center for Visual Arts is located at 68 Elm Street, Summit, New Jersey. Gallery hours for this exhibition are 12:00 - 4:00 pm daily. For further information call the NJCVA at 908-273-9121 or visit www.njcva.org.
