Charles is the first recipient of the award, which was presented at the July Summer Power Meeting held in Toronto. His contributions have been instrumental in pioneering development for the Custom Power and total Power Quality technology industry. These innovative efforts also resulted in major new products for the industry: DSTATCOMs, DVRs, and Active Filters. Charlies accomplishments have produced, and brought to commercialization, many of the basic technologies designed to bring value-added solutions for the highly-reliable, high-quality power distribution systems being demanded by commercial and industrial customers in todays digital society.
Involved in custom power work since 1992, Charlie has fifteen US patents. His nomination was reviewed by an IEEE Power Engineering Society committee, which looked at patents, papers, projects, and recommendations from colleagues. The award was presented by President of the IEEE Power Engineering Society and S&C President, John Estey.
