Independent Musician: Digital Music Revolution Is About Breaking Rules
One Boston area independent songwriter/musician says that the Digital Music Revolution should encourage musicians everywhere to break music's golden rules. Sassure, whose rule-breaking CD LINEAR LOVE has just been released on cdbaby.com, advocates what he calls "artistic civil disobedience" in order to push the envelope of musical creativity and "take entertainment where it has never been before." "My CD breaks most of music's golden rules," he says. "I'm only sorry that I wasn't able to break all of them at once."
(PRWEB) January 17, 2004 --One Boston area independent songwriter/musician says that the Digital Music Revolution should encourage musicians everywhere to break music's golden rules.
Questioning what he calls the "sacred cows of songwriting", Sassure is planning projects and new songs that will intentionally violate traditional norms of CD recording. "Who says that a song must be endlessly repetitive?" he asks. "Who says that there must be repetiton at all? Who says that a recording must sound as if it has been created in an aerospace lab? Who says that a song can't just crash and burn at the end? Who says that recorded music must be able to be replicated in concert? I have two words in response: bah and humbug."
