Black Man Debunks Longstanding Myths by Reclaiming and Giving Praise to the Black Woman

Atlanta Based Doctor pens a book to Dispel Stereotypes about Black Women. This is a book which will help heal the breech for women and men.

(PRWEB) January 17, 2004 --Marcus L. Wells, an Atlanta-based medical doctor, helps us to see the reality of the Black Woman that is often omitted in the 6 OClock News, or in the International magazines and newspapers, in his new book, Soul Food for the Soul Sistah.

Given the long history of degradation, rape and slavery, which has been heaped upon her shoulders, the Black woman should have been utterly destroyed. Instead, like the dust of a whirlwind-she rises. Moreover, when she has been beaten and churned like milk, she rises to the top like rich butter. The African American woman has not only survived, she has succeeded against numerous odds. It is not an understatement to say that she has made such phenomenal strides in the world, there is no other race of women like her.

Yet, in spite of the Black womans many successes, due to years of negative programming, she still needs to be reminded of her greatness. Thats why a book such as Soul Food for the Soul Sistah is much needed. In his book, Wells gives us 365 affirmations to read daily. These affirmations give the Sistah a reflection of her true self, her potential, and her position.

He gives affirmations that empower the total being, spiritually, financially, and socially.

These are some examples taken from the book:

Day 17

I will take at least ten minutes daily of quiet time for myself and consult with my inner being, then communicate to my higher consciousness.

Day 53

I will revere sisterhood by speaking only positively to another.

Marcus Wells contends these affirmations are necessary to combat some of the derogatory images now being perpetrated through songs, and other mediums, which have caused a rift in the community between Black men and women, as well as between women themselves.

Dr. Wells concludes with poetic expressions that encompass the essence of the Black Goddesses. These affirmations are a must for Black Women, especially to help counter the negative portrayals in the media and modern day song lyrics. Most of all, it is refreshing to see a Black man glorify and cherish Black women.
