Manchester, NH (PRWEB) January 20, 2004 --Teletrol Systems Inc., an industry leader in building automation technology, has received certification from NSAI, Inc. for registration to the ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance model. ISO, a worldwide federation of 130 countries, promotes the development of standardization and related activities to facilitate the international exchange of goods and services.
To obtain ISO 9001:2000 certification, Teletrol Systems was audited by NSAI in December at their Manchester, NH, headquarters to verify that all the new ISO regulations were being met within Teletrol's quality management system. All written documentation was carefully analyzed, and specific workplace areas were checked.
Previously certified as ISO 9000, Teletrol Systems is now certified for another three-year period under the new ISO 9001:2000 standards, which requires auditing once every six months during these three years. Any and all organizations wishing to retain accredited certification will have to have migrated their quality management system to being compliant with ISO 9001:2000 by December 2003.
ISO 9001:2000 aims at guaranteeing the effectiveness of the organization. The rationale behind the revision process places great emphasis on making quality management systems closer to the processes of the organization and on continual improvement. As a result, the revised standards are directed to the achievement of business results, including satisfaction of customers and others.
"The new standards are a much better fit for all companies," said Tim Schofield, Teletrol's director of operations. "They align much more closely with how we do business and what we are in business for. They focus very much on measuring and achieving customer satisfaction. They also require evidence of continuous improvement of the company's key measures."
"The biggest improvement that came out of this process for us was how we tied our key performance measures into the system," continued Schofield. "The ISO 9001:2000 version is all about satisfying our customers and achieving continuous improvement in all areas. Our auditor was very impressed with our system, but more importantly, we now have a system in place where we review our progress on a monthly basis and ISO now drives that. It is a great fit for how we conduct our business every day."
