Dr. Shane Bush Appointed Chief Science Officer at MemoryConcepts -- Board Certified Neuropsychologist and Rehabilitation Psychologist Becomes President-Elect of the Neuropsychology Division of the New York State Psychological Association --

-- Shane S. Bush, Ph.D., ABPN, ABPP, a Board Certified neuropsychologist and rehabilitation psychologist has been named Chief Science Officer at MemoryConceptsÔ. Formed last year and based in Port Washington, New York, MemoryConcepts provides educational information and services to optimize memory and other cognitive abilities.

Port Washington, NY (PRWEB) January 22, 2004 --In addition to his recently arrival at MemoryConcepts, Dr. Bush has just been elected the 2004 President-Elect of the Neuropsychology Division of the New York State Psychological Association, effective January 1. The New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA) is a private, non-profit professional association chartered more than 50 years ago with the mission of advancing the science and practice of psychology while supporting excellence in education, training, research, advocacy and service.

            Dr. Bush brings more than 7 years of experience in cognitive rehabilitation and neurorehabilitation programs to MemoryConcepts. As Chief Science Officer, Dr. Bush oversees all elements of the companys scientific activities and scientific content on the MemoryConcepts web site. In addition, Dr. Bush brings his expertise in cognitive training to the development of the companys groundbreaking new online mind fitness" program, MemorySparksÔ. This unique Internet program consists of interactive cognitive training exercises designed to optimize memory and other cognitive skills.

            With his strong scientific background and direct experience in helping people to achieve their highest cognitive potential, Dr. Bush brings a wealth of knowledge about effective ways to improve memory that can be translated into everyday life," says Janet B.             During his career, Dr. Bush has served as a neuropsychologist and clinical coordinator of inpatient and outpatient neurorehabilitation programs. In these roles, he provided cognitive rehabilitation and psychological service to help those with acquired brain injuries to achieve their highest cognitive potential and functional independence. In addition, he has worked extensively with individuals with Alzheimers disease and other neurological and emotional conditions that affect memory, helping them to work toward improved functioning and quality of life.

            Board certified in Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology and board certified in Rehabilitation Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, Dr. Bush received his doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in neuropsychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. He completed his predoctoral internship at Yale Medical School and his postdoctoral fellowship in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology at Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation.

            Dr. Bush has published numerous articles on issues related to neurorehabilitation and professional ethics. He is an editorial board member of the journal The Clinical Neuropsychologists, and is co-editor of the book Ethical Issues in Clinical Neuropsychology. In addition, he has two books currently in press: Health Care Ethics: A Psychologists Casebook (which is co-authored) and an edited text entitled A Casebook of Ethical Challenges in Neuropsychology. He is also currently co-editing a book entitled Geriatric Neuropsychology.
