Firepad Platform Now Compatible with All Palm-Powered Smartphones

Firepad's mobile rich media platform is now compatible with all Palm-Powered smartphones. Organizations can now use Firepad Picture Viewer, FireProducer streaming server, and FirePublisher proxy server with any PalmOS-based device, wireless or non-wireless.

COSTA MESA, CALIF (PRWEB) January 22, 2004 --Firepad announced its newest mobile media viewer is compatible with all PalmOS-based smartphones, including all Treo, Samsung and Kyocera models.

"To the best of my knowledge, Firepad remains the only client/server mobile media platform that was designed from the ground up to work in both wireless and HotSync environments," said Bill Mitchell, Firepad's founder. "Other platforms have come and gone in recent years; we believe our staying power has resulted directly from our architectural flexibility."

Firepad's mission is to be the rich-media mobile component within larger corporate IT projects. The company offers a Palm picture viewer, a webcam-to-Palm video server, a Web-to-handheld proxy server, and other integrated rich media software components. These elements can be mixed and matched to serve a wide variety of applications.

"Using Firepad and any Palm-compatible handheld, a sales team can carry detailed product demonstrations, sell sheets and customer education materials in a shirt pocket," said Mitchell. "These materials can then be referenced during sales calls, or even beamed to the prospect's PDA in lieu of take-aways.

"Field service organizations, such as repair staff, can use the Firepad platform to receive work orders, maps and product manuals from one convenient handheld application.

"Smartphone compatibility lets the field employee perform all voice and data work from a single handheld device," said Mitchell. "It's cheap, compelling, and there's no lock-in."

Firepad software works with the IT staff's existing HTML, image and video tools to quickly create media-rich reference materials. Since documents are maintained in open standard formats, the IT organization maintains its options and avoids lock-in.
