Fremont, CA (PRWEB) February 1, 2004 ---- 64 teams are participating in the annual winter tournament organized by Tennisball Cricket Association, TCA, a bay area association of teams playing tennisball cricket. The 4-week event starts on February 21st with matches played in various school grounds across the cities of Fremont, Sunnyvale, Milpitas and Santa Clara.

TCA is a non-profit organization headquartered in Fremont, CA with the main goal of promoting tennisball cricket. The winter knockout tournament is one of the 3 events that TCA conducts every year for its members. This year has seen the member teams grow to an unprecedented 64 from 52 and there will be 63 matches played in this tournament. This is probably the biggest event of its kind -- 64 teams playing on 7 different fields simultaneously in 4 cities.

Our games are generally played for 3 hours unlike the traditional 8 hour day long game and it is similar to baseball," says Secretary Parag Kulkarni. The game of cricket is quite popular among the population from the Indian sub continent, UK and Australia, but we would like to popularize it among the locals too." Most of the participants are from companies like Cisco (Cisco 16), Seagate (Discers), IBM (Beamers) or from local Universities like Stanford.

TCA has plans to grow beyond the Bay Area with plans to bring Dallas and Sacramento teams under its umbrella. TCA is also involved with the community and will be holding a summer camp for kids in the Bay Area.

The Winter Knockout starts on 21st February and the grand finale will be on the 20th of March on John Horner School grounds in Fremont.
