Music & Interview Service For High School

New website of established organization now offers all US High School newspapers, radio/TV stations and student activities boards access to music, interviews and more by national recording artists. All free and all legal! http://www.shagg.com

(PRWEB) February 1, 2004 --The SHAGG Network is a network of 3500 high school newspapers, radio / tv stations and student activities committees. Since 1996, we have been servicing our members with music for review as well as opportunities to interview artists, review concerts, get station ids and visits from artists. We have provided many on-campus concerts for school organizations by national recording artists, many of which were used as fundraisers. We have also frequently provided advertising in school papers. Our services are always 100% free for school organizations. Even membership is free. We have NEVER required that members publish reviews of what we service. We do not 'hype, we simply present. We do create professional opportunities for student journalists around something they love-music.

Thanks to our new website, we no longer have to limit membership to 3500. Now, any high school and qualifying junior high school organization are invited to join and reap the benefits of the same opportunities our traditional members have enjoyed for years.

Until now, we were not in the position to offer students the opportunity to showcase their work on a national scale, but now we are! The main graphics on the site will be a revolving showcase for student paintings, photographs, etc. We offer talented journalists national publication monthly and will even run monthly 'best written review contests for cash and prizes. We will showcase talented high school musicians for their peers and the industry. Now, in addition to providing student media organizations the opportunity to review new releases and interview artists, students will have a national showcase for their work!

In 1996, we started with a membership of less than 300 school newspapers and radio stations. Our growth since then has been exclusively word of mouth. We have never advertised anywhere nor have we ever allowed advertisement on our site. In 1997, the National Scholastic Press Association ran an article about us in their Trends" newsletter. We can usually tell when theres been a regional Student Press Association or Journalism Education Association convention due to the flurry of new applications from members in one geographic region.

SHAGG has never been, nor will we ever be, a corporate culture. While COPPA compliant, we also prohibit membership to anyone under the age of 13. We have always been very careful about the content of music we present to schools. Combined with the unique and valuable service we provide student media organizations, were thrilled to finally expand our membership eight years later.

SHAGG invites all high school newspapers, magazines, student zines, student radio and television stations and student activities committees to join today. We permit several members at one school, even several members at one school organization. You may discontinue your membership at any time with no notice and again, membership and all services are absolutely free. A one-time registration is all that is necessary.

To celebrate the launch, around one major movie, SHAGG is running a contest that ends January 30th which will enable one school organization to win a $500 Dell gift certificate and one student at that school will win a $100 Best Buy gift certificate. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to get in touch. If you would like some of many glowing reports of SHAGG from advisers at schools who have been long standing members, just ask and were happy to provide.
