International cancer organization makes seed grant to small New York-based patient group.
Evanston, IL (PRWEB) February 2, 2004 --The Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) today announced a seed grant in memory of its founder, Eugene P. Schonfeld, to fund research sponsored by a nascent New York based kidney cancer group known as Action to Cure Kidney Cancer. Fred Atkin, a board member, said they are very appreciative" of the five hundred dollar gift.
In presenting the grant, Sarah Wise, chair of the Associations Governmental Affairs Committee said, We are pleased to provide a restricted research grant to this ad hoc group of KCA members who are working towards increasing funding levels for kidney cancer research."
Wise added, Gene Schonfeld was a true visionary, who committed himself fully to eradication of a disease that kills thirty-three Americans every day. Before Gene, there was no organization that represented the interests of kidney cancer patients. It is in his honor that we make this commitment to further expand this outreach."
Staff and medical board members of the Kidney Cancer Association, an internationally recognized voluntary health organization, founded in 1989, with a database of more than 60-thousand constituents globally, have volunteered to collaborate with the New Yorkers in promoting their cause.
