Geographic Systems and Analysis, the developer of the popular CartoVCL mapping components for Borland® Delphi, today announced the release of CartoVCL Pro 7. CartoVCL is a set of visual components, classes, and routines for writing desktop mapping and GIS applications using Borland® Delphi.

Johannesburg, South Africa (PRWEB) February 3, 2004 --Geographic Systems and Analysis, the developer of the popular CartoVCL mapping components for Borland® Delphi, today announced the release of CartoVCL Pro 7. CartoVCL is a set of visual components, classes, and routines for writing desktop mapping and GIS applications using Borland® Delphi.

Rob Volkwyn, Managing Director of Geographic Systems, explains: "Over the last few years CartoVCL has matured into a stable, easy to use set of Delphi components. Over and above the native MapInfo® graphic support capabilities released in a previous version, this version builds on these features. Besides it's basic mapping features, CartoVCL Pro boasts a number of useful features such as automatic labeling, scalable pie charts as a map feature, bezier curves support, a function to find the convex hull of a point set , as well as other spatial analysis distance functions. In addition, CartoVCL Pro supports the native reading and writing of the popular ArcView shape file format."

"We have come a long way since 1995," Volkwyn continues. "Originally we started out developing components for a vehicle tracking outfit in South Africa. we are pleased to report that this client is still our strategic partner, who uses CartoVCL to develop various internet based custom solutions. Steadily our global footprint has grown, with our user base now in over 25 countries world wide.

"In addition, our product range has grown substantially. CartoCLX, interchangeable components for the Borland® CLX environment (i.e. Delphi and the popular Linux compiler Kylix) was released in the middle of 2003. CartoMAP, our desktop mapping product has recently been enhanced, with a new version released late last year. A new version of CartoX, our ActiveX control, will be released within the next few weeks. This version natively support ArcView shape files as well as MapInfo® graphic files. We expect this to be a popular release."

Evaluation versions of these software products are available for download from the Carto World web site - http://www.cartoworld.com. CartoVCL is currently available to new users at a special offer, reduced by 30% until February 9, 2004.
