New Yorks Guns" & Hoses" To Play In Freedom Bowl Against CFA All-Stars

A football game between the NYPD and NYFD playing against the California Football Association All-stars to help the youth and honor lost heroes.

Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) February 4, 2004 ---On Friday, February 6, 2004, The California Football Association, will host a group of active-duty NYPD and FDNY for the 1st Annual Freedom Bowl at the Long Beach Veterans Memorial Stadium. Between the two New York teams, these men lost 11 members of their family in the Twin Towers. In honor of their comrades joint sacrifice, surviving members of these teams have joined into one all-star team, calling themselves The New York Towers.

This game is not just a worthwhile charity event, but also a serious game of football under NFL rules and officiating, the Towers will be competing with an all-star team from the California Football Association, many of whom are being staged for the NFL.
The game will be a tribute to those Guns" and Hoses" who carry on every day and will give the teams a chance to inspire the youth of tomorrow. Proceeds will be donated to a scholarship fund set up in the names of The Towers fallen comrades and to the St. Andrews Park Recreational Center in the name of Marquese Rashad Prude, a 13 year old boy who was killed at the center in 2001 in a drive by shooting.

"I was blessed enough to know Marquese. Like many young men in our communities, he was trying to do the right thing and a senseless act of violence took his life much too early. It is not only our responsibility, it is our duty as leaders and roll models to reach back and give our youth the chance at a better life. We welcome the New York Towers, to our backyard and although we plan on giving them a good hurting on the field, we stand united for our youth.    Athletics gave myself and many of the players that will come together for the Freedom Bowl, a way out. It is our turn to give back.    The Freedom Bowl is not just another football game, it is a vehicle that will allow us to invest in our youth, the future leaders of our communities." Comments Tony Reid, CFA President, owner and general manger of the Inglewood Blackhawks, CFA Champion, 2003. www.blackhawkfootball.com

Whether tragedy strikes one life, or one thousand, the senseless act of violence is apparent., that is why we applaud and support the New President of the CFA Tony Reid on the 1st Annual Freedom Bowl." Comments Shirin Sharkawi, CEO of Fair Community Lending Services, www.fcls123.com
