(PRWEB) February 5, 2004 -- African American Playwrights Tyler Perry and JD Lawrence (www.thejdlawrenceshow.com) now turned screenwriters take "Hollywood" by storm. The number one movie in the country this past weekend has Hollywood in a $22.7 million dollar daze. All we can say is be on the look out Hollywood, lightening just might strike twice. There's another genius on the horizon. Two Time National "Keep America Beautiful" Award Winning producer, playwright, actor, comedian and singer JD Lawrence is another phenomenon. "JD Lawrence's laugh-a-minute humor is slick, razor sharp and family oriented" says New York Times' Marcelle S. Fischler.

Over a decade, JD Lawrence has entertained millions, night after night sold out audiences across the country and Europe have bared witness to this unique and lucrative genre he and Mr. Perry call "Urban Theatre". JD Lawrence now with a management deal with Grammy Award Winner Alicia Keys' management company is making preparation for several offers for the big screen and television.

Lawrence's theatrical plays set the stage in 2001 and 2002 as the inspiration behind ground breaking urban films grossing over $80 million. Lawrence (the first African American playwright to perform at New York's, Westbury Music Fair) is now casting for the movie "The Lawrences" one of his "Urban Theatre" audience favorites, where he portrays over "Seven" outrageous characters as well as writes, produces and performs more than half of the soundtrack.
