TPP PCV Biomass Cell or Blood Counters from Midwest Scientific Lets Researchers Count Their Cells the Easy Way
Midwest Scientific offers the TPP mini PCV tube, a novel disposable microtube for rapid assessment of biomass in cell cultures.
(PRWEB) February 10, 2004 --Measuring PCV (packed cell volume) is a rapid method to quantify cells in small samples of blood. Because of the high cell density in blood, a few µl of sample centrifuged within a glass capillary are sufficient to measure PCV. The density of cell cultures is usually lower and much larger sample volumes are needed (e.g., 10 ml for existing glass PCV tubes). PCV of 1 percent is equal to 10 ml of pelleted cells per liter of medium.
TPP mini PCV tubes provide quick and easy cell counting for any cell line. Requiring small sample volumes of 1ml or less, the methodology offers reliable results within minutes. The tubes, which fit into standard lab microcentrifuges, have high-precision graduation ranging from 0.25 to 5 ml (0.025 -- 5% PCV). Color-coded for easy identification, the tubes come in configurations of 2 pieces per bag and 50 pieces per box. The sterile polystyrene tubes have polyethylene caps. They resist up to RCFmax=5000Xg force.
Mini PCV tubes are compatible with standard rotors. Sample volume is 1 ml or less. The capillary is calibrated in µl, and the sensitivity fits cell culture needs.
