Is 2004 Your Year to Make That Big Change? The Movement That's Sweeping The Nation

Charleston, SC Professional Coaches Gear Up for International Personal and Business Coaching Week - February 1-7, 2004

(PRWEB) February 6, 2004 --If youre like most folks, the resolutions you made so firmly on New Years Day have already fallen by the wayside. You want to lose that weight, start that small business, take your business to the next level, or simply become a better entrepreneur or teacher or manager -- but youre stuck in a rut, and the disparity between where you are and where you want to be is impacting on your life as stress and frustration.

A personal coach or a business coach may be able to get you from A to B: devise a plan of action and keep you on track -- and its usually done in telephone sessions, so its easy to fit into your busy life -- no excuses! Professional coaches can help you to achieve that wanted change faster, often much faster.

Youre probably familiar with the most famous life-change coach today, Tony Robbins author of Awaken The Giant Within." The International Coaching Federation, a Washington, D.C.- based association of personal and business coaches, has designated February 1-7, 2004 as International Coaching Week. It estimates there are more than 20,000 professional Coaches nationwide and the number is skyrocketing. Major magazines including Newsweek, Fast Company, Business 2.0, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal and television shows including OPRAH, Good Morning America and CNN have featured the stories of people who achieved dramatic improvements in their lives thanks to personal or business Coaches.

A professional coach does not tell you what to do, he or she ask you the series of questions that helps you clarify:
•   your passions and goals;
•   the beliefs that are limiting you;
•   new ways of thinking and acting;
•   the steps and actions you need to take to achieve your goals.

A Coach challenges you to challenge yourself. He or she helps you formulate a contract to take the actions that will get you to your goal, and, perhaps most importantly, keeps you on track so your resolutions dont fade away by January 15th.
Coaching is no longer a luxury, but a necessity! Life Coaching assists with goals such as fitness, relationships and transitions such as divorce and retirement.

Coaching helps clients to attain their ideal income or job position. You may secretly ask yourself, Why am I such a failure?" or Why cant I get better at this?" A Coach would suggest you ask yourself instead: What do I need to understand, learn and improve to get that raise or job promotion?"

Life coaches work with entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals such as dentists, doctors and attorneys. The Coach aligns with the client to design a more effective business strategy and the steps to implement it, whether sales, marketing, product development, a vision for the business or simply developing a business plan. The bottom line for the client? A huge reduction of stress and an enjoyable growth of his or her business and profits.

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Coaches support adults and students in developing and maintaining focus and concentration while providing a safe place to work on social skills. For example, an ADHD-coach might help a father or mother with problems at home such as setting up a bill-payment routine or a family time routine or a chore schedule to reduce family tensions. The coach would work with an ADHD college student around time management, and thus stay on track with assignments, exams or a Masters thesis.

The Life Coach works with the public school principal and the private school headmaster to develop that crucial vision for his or her school and to clarify the steps needed to achieve that vision. The Coach also would explore the educators strengths and weaknesses in the areas of communication, time management, leadership and motivation of others.

Professional coaches bring degrees and/or years of experience in their specialty plus coaching training to the experience. Under the guidelines for the ICF, Master coaches must have 200 hours of training and 2500 hours of coaching experience. Most coaches have a complimentary session" in which you can ask questions about training and background. The majority of people select a coach by intuition, the right chemistry."

Coaching is rarely done in person, only 15%, according to the ICF. Most work with their clients by telephone three times a week plus e-mail and brief in between phone messages. Your coaching schedule can be adapted to fit your schedule!

Who exactly seeks out a coach?...Winners who want even more out of life."
