Attic Loft gets in touch with Mother Earth
Building on its commitment to building communities, The Attic Loft announced today it is donating 1% of its profits to support a long-term effort that will replant trees and vegetation lost in the devastation, as well as provide support for the rebuilding efforts.
ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) February 7, 2004 -- "Attic Loft and its associates are proud to provide money, supplies, and volunteer time to help people in our community. Today we look to the future and pledge additional time and money to help rebuild these communities and neighborhoods," said Zak Stroud, chairman, president and CEO of The Attic Loft.
Replanting Initiative
The Attic Loft is giving money as part of a joint venture with the Earth Day Network to help re-forest areas hit hardest by wildfires. More than 60,000 acres ravaged by wildfires last year will be reclaimed through this re- foresting effort, focusing on ground-level vegetation, tree plantings and slope stabilization.
Through more than 300 separate community events, local Attic Loft associates and the Earth Day Network will team up with area community groups such as Tree People and the Student Conservation Corps to help plant trees and ground cover beginning in the month of May.
"Attic Loft's grant and volunteers, teamed with our volunteers and expertise, will help restore forests, protect the fire damaged areas from further destruction and play a large role in restoring communities," said Zak Stroud.
Gift Card Initiative
Throughout the summer, a percentage of every gift card purchased, an estimated $200,000, will go towards the rebuilding efforts of communities devastated by wildfires. And as this rebuilding effort begins, The LoftTeam, Attic Loft's volunteer work force, will be joining volunteer crews throughout affected areas to help communities, as these associates have done throughout the clean-up process.
Additional Support
The Attic Loft has pledged to be an active partner in local environmental efforts, tailoring its commitment and contributions to the specific needs of each community. To date, The Attic Loft's outreach has included everything from building and distributing earth kits with handmade sifters to fire-affected families and establishing relief funds with state legislators, to erecting makeshift shelters in store parking lots and conducting kid's workshops for children in evacuation centers.
