Lincoln, NE (PRWEB) February 7, 2004 --The idea behind Garden Blends started in the fall of 2002 when Patricia was thinking about Christmas gifts for her children's teachers. She decided that she could make Gifts in a Jar. She started out making M&M Cookie Mixes, and putting neat little fabric covers over the lids of the jars. Patricia thought it was such a good idea that she continued this for Christmas gifts for family and friends.
One of her co-workers started a crafting business, Seasonal Creations out of Dorchester, NE. Patricia thought this would be a fun experience; so along with the Gifts in a Jar, she tried her hand at jewelry making, wood painting, etc. As it turned out, the Gifts in a Jar and the jewelry were pretty big hits. After talking with family members, Patricia decided that she wished to continue with this line of products and add spice mixes to them.
Patricia developed different spice and jar recipes and changed them and started over with some until she had what she wanted. She ended up at a few craft shows last year, and began to sell at the Farmer's Market located in the Historic Haymarket last May. Patricia sat through cold mornings, mornings where she wished that she had a portable air conditioner, and mornings of pouring down rain. Then, the following week, it would be hot & humid, and start all over again. Patricia began to get regular customers, and had people coming back every week looking for her as they had tried a certain spice mix, wanted to try some of the others, and wanted to share the new way they found to use her spices. Many of those ideas that were shared with Patricia are incorporated into todays spice mixes, such as using the spice as a meat rub, to spice up a soup, or to use as a topping on baked potatoes.
