SPARTA, NJ (MobilityNewswire/PRWEB ) February 9, 2004 --Bachmann Software announces a major new release of its popular file management software. FilePoint version 3.0 will enable users to access, browse and copy files to and from shared network drives, directly from their handhelds. This feature has never been available in any Palm OS® commercial software. Select partners and customers will be previewing FilePoint version 3.0 at the PalmSource Developer Conference 2004 in San Jose, California, from February 10th -- 12th.
FilePoints Explorer-like user interface lets you browse computers, network shares and network file folders just as you would from your desktop computer or laptop. A copy function will allow users to copy files between shared network folders and the handhelds main memory or available expansion cards. Users of word processing or other handheld applications can copy files from the network, work with them on the handheld, and save them back to the network, all with a standard Wi-Fi network connection from their handheld.
FilePoint 3.0 is a major step forward towards integrating handhelds into the office and home-based networks we use every day," said Glenn Bachmann, president and founder of Bachmann Software. The ability to seamlessly access shared network drives and copy files to and from the network frees handheld computer users to be even more productive as they roam offices, schools and other locations that commonly deploy wireless networks."
FilePoint 3.0 is expected to become available to the general public towards the end of the first quarter of 2004. Pricing has yet to be finalized, but Bachmann is planning to offer FilePoint 3.0 as both a standalone Palm OS application, as well as part of a more full featured version of its FilePoint Pro software which includes the FilePoint Desktop module. Bachmann will announce upgrade policies for existing FilePoint customers when the product is formally released.
