Mystery writer uses coroner background to fulfill her dream.
Newly published murder mystery, BONES IN THE BADLANDS, is a contemporary tale of delayed justice.
(PRWEB) February 9, 2004 --A South Dakota county coroner has used her crime-scene investigation skills to write a murder mystery set on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. At her rural home, Jane Colhoff thought about writing a mystery for several years, but it was not until she was diagnosed with colon cancer that she began writing BONES IN THE BADLANDS. Colhoff wrote the book in longhand, sitting in the corner of her couch in her two room log cabin, while she fought chemotherapy side-effects of fatigue and nausea. PublishAmerica released the book on Christmas Eve, 2003. It can be purchased from the publisher's website at http://www.publishamerica.com/shopping
or from http://www.amazon.com/books
In a contemporary setting within the shadows of the stark beauty of Badlands National Park, Colhoff introduces readers to Hattie Gerald. Gerald's world is rocked by the unexpected death of her husband. Rather than grieve, she hides from her pain, until a visit from a Lakota elder, Buffalo Thunder, pushes her to clear the name of her late husband's grandfather, who had been accused of murder in 1942. Buffalo Thunder's eyewitness account of a half-century old murder plunges him, Gerald and FBI Special Agent Alan Wilson into a world ruled by a powerful politician. They all pay a high price for their insistance on obtaining justice for the three innocent victims of so long ago.
Reviewers have compared Colhoff's book favorably with those of Tony Hillerman, Dana Stabenow, David and Amiee Thurlow and JA Jance. These reviews can be read on amazon.com.
