Warning - New Phony Ebay identity theft email in circulation.
Yet another email is in circulation which targets users of the eBay online auction site. It attempts to get users to enter sensitive information in order to steal their identity.
(PRWEB) February 9, 2004 --This is especially urgent as the phony target site is still active at the time of this writing. The email seems like a legitimate eBay correspondence, complete with the eBay logo. The url included in the email shows an authentic eBay domain. However, hidden in the html is another url which looks like an ebay site, but is not. The site asks you to enter your eBay USERID and password (any combination of userid and password will work), and then takes you to a page which requests every bit of sensitive information you have. To see the actual email, and the phony pages, see this page: http://www.identity-theft-help-information.com/ebay_fake_alert-02-10-2004.html
