MPS President Invited to Open and Moderate Panel at Transportation Security Forum in Egypt

Glenn Jackson, President of Maritime Protective Services, has been asked to speak and moderate a key panel at the Middle East Transportation Security Forum being held in Cairo, Egypt February 9-11.

FT LAUDERDALE, FA (PRWEB) February 9, 2004 --The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA),in cooperation with the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security (Bureau of Customs and Border Protection), Transportation and Commerce, is sponsoring this first of its kind" conference. With dignitaries and officials from more than 50 nations throughout Africa, the Middle East and South Asia joining with representatives of the International Maritime Organization, the World Customs Organization, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, and participants from Operation Safe Commerce and the Safe and Secure Tradelanes Initiative, attendance is expected to exceed 400. All of the new initiatives have been designed to tighten and improve security around the world... and are aimed at safeguarding trade and transportation. Complying with them is proving to be both an opportunity and a challenge"... said Jackson, and, timing and theme of this forum: Secure Trade Through New Partnerships and New Technologies is more than appropriate as we enter a new era of security consciousness in the maritime industry.

An impressive list of speakers will cover a variety of topics, including the U.S. Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, Advanced Manifest Information rules, the Container Security Initiative (CSI) and the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program. Jacksons panel will focus on the International Maritime Organization's International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
