Work in Substance Abuse is Opening Doors in Other Areas

DELRAY BEACH, FA (PRWEB) February 10, 2004 ---Spurred on by their own work in the areas of sound and vibration, researchers at Nova Southeastern University, in S. Florida are investigating the potential of adding Neuro Acoustic Research Corps (NARC) neuro-pathways recording system (NPRS) to their arsenal of weapons for the treatment of pain.

Our technology and the systems that have evolved from it, was originally designed for application in the area of relapse prevention, form all forms of substance abuse. And, during the early stages of our own investigation and testing, we found that ancillary benefits were being witnessed by the subjects, as a result of their use of the CDs and the techniques utilized in the regimen -- things like: improved sleep patterns, increases in the ability to focus and concentrate, decreases in levels of anxiety and stress, and a reduction in pain and suffering, were being reported" ... explained, Dr. Sewak, President of NARC, ...then, through a unique collaborative arrangement with Dr. Paul Bradley, Director of the new Pain Clinic at Nova, we found that our technology had gained new advocate". Sewak continued... Even though our work to date has been limited (due to the renovations taking place in the Clinics facilities on campus) preliminary tests, for relief and/or mitigation, have been done in such diverse areas as: sleep deprivation/insomnia; tinnitus; pain and stress, and more... which, even though, at this time, the findings are strictly anecdotal, we are very encouraged and are looking forward to continuing this effort.

The next 11 months will be filled with activities for this small enterprise, with the work described above at Nova; the double-blind relapse prevention study being finalized in Palm Beach County; and a host of continuing individualized/specialized studies the team is carrying on out of their facilities in Delray Beach, Fl.
