Southeastern Michigan Moms Are Thinking Pink To Save Money
A growing trend is developing rapidly among moms in southeastern Michigan who are trying to juggle their childrens' needs with today's tough economy... the mom-to-mom resale. Many of these same moms come together on the web and in person through a very active online community which is centered around listing these mom-to-mom sales.
Mount Clemens, MI (PRWEB) February 10, 2004 --Since 1991 Moms in Southeastern Michigan have been passing out mysterious lists to friends, neighbors, and playmates. In recent years, these little lists have turned pink, and have been appearing more and more frequently. What's the big secret? These Moms are paying pennies on the dollar for slightly used baby and childrens items. How do they do it? They refer to the infamous "Pink Lists" to find Mom2Mom Sales in the area from early spring until late fall.
Mom2Mom Sales are very common in Southeastern Michigan, but few and far between in other areas of the country. They are a cross between a flea market and a multi-family garage sale. Admission ranges from being free to donations, or sometimes a dollar or two as a fundraiser for the organization holding the sale. What you'll find inside is priceless. Designer kids jeans for only a dollar or two, a crib or bassinett for under twenty dollars, winter coats for five bucks... Mothers can buy entire outfits for the cost of a single shirt at a retail store.
Who can attend a Mom2Mom Sale? Anyone! However, don't be at all surprised if you see groupies standing at the door waiting to enter, gabbing about the latest talk on the website messageboards. Mom2MomList.com is the virtual home of the "Pink List". The website started out as another way for people to find out when and where the sales were taking place, and has expanded into a full blown local parenting community. With over 650 online members, there's always something new and exciting going on. Members not only attend the Mom2Mom sales, but they also buy and sell their items online, swap babysitting services, play games, debate hot topics, and plan playgroup outings.
On Saturday, February 21, 2004 this year's first Mom2Mom Sale will kick-off at MORC, inc., 16200 19 Mile Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038. Admission of $1.00 will be taken at the door to raise funds for operating expenses and to support the MORC Therapeutic Riding Program. Hours will be 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
