Controversial Gay/Lesbian Book Makes A Stormy Black History Month Debut

A bibically based, spiritually empowering book which is also Gay/Lesbian Affirming is being released next week geared directly towards the Black Gay/Lesbian, Clergy and Heterosexual community. It is titled "Black, Gay & Christian: An Inspirational Guidebook to Daily Living"

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 12, 2004 --Black History Month 2004 is serving as the backdrop of the much anticipated and highly controversial new book release, Black, Gay & Christian" by Atlanta author, Herndon L. Davis. This 16 chapter, gay/lesbian affirming, and biblically based spiritual empowerment tool is being touted as the first and only holistic book for the modern day Black Gay/Lesbian Christian.

The book is primarily geared for those who seek to simultaneously embrace their spirituality and their homosexual orientation as born-again Christians. In addition to covering numerous gay/lesbian affirming spiritual/reconciliation topics, the book also speaks affirmatively to same-gender-loving relationships, gay parenting, workplace homophobia, and financial planning as it directly relates to the Black Gay/Lesbian Christian community.

Furthering the dialogue on homosexuality and spirituality in the black community is the goal of this book" says Davis. He adds that this is a book of joy, peace and reconciliation, not one of fiery debate. In fact there are two chapters dedicated specifically to the black clergy and other black non-affirming individuals to assist them in their understanding."

Within the next week, advance book copies will be shipped to customers who pre-ordered autographed copies and to requesting media outlets. In addition to ordering online at http://www.blackgaychristian.com, the book will also be available nationwide in bookstores starting at the end of March.

Later in April, a book release celebration will be held in Atlanta, followed by a nationwide book tour kickoff starting in Philadelphia during that citys Black Gay Pride celebration, April 22-25.

The book tour will closely follow the Black Gay Pride circuit, with stops in Houston, DC, Detroit, San Francisco, Atlanta, and other cities. Finally, Mr. Davis essays of inspiration are being published prominently in both affirming and non-affirming arenas in the US and overseas. His current essay Black Church History Comes Out the Closet" can be read online at the following internet sites:
