The ENERGY STAR program is a partnership between the EPA, DOE, product manufacturers, retailers and utilities, formed to promote the manufacture and use of energy-saving products. The program's ultimate goal is to significantly curb greenhouse gas emissions while saving consumers hundreds of millions of dollars in electricity bills.

According to program sponsors, if all consumers, businesses and organizations in the United States made their product choices and building improvement decisions with ENERGY STAR over the next decade, the national annual energy bill would be reduced by about $200 billion.
