Icelandic Design: Pulling Their Weight With A Brilliant New Line

Icelandic Design's new line boasts a stunning new collection of lighter-weight sweaters! Also emphasized is a charismatic and broad selection of sweaters, jackets and accessories.

Longmont,CO (PRWEB) February 12, 2004 --Icelandic Design has announced the launch of their new Fall line, including a stunning new collection of lighter-weight, washable wool sweaters called the Après Light" group.

Après Light boasts the same artistic style and fine gauge fabrics that Icelandic Design buyers have grown to love, but with a new weight versatility that is expected to expand Icelandics dynamic presence in the sweater market.

Also emphasized in their latest launch is a charismatic and broad selection of sweaters, jackets and accessories. In this new line, designer Julie Powell has struck a balance between the indoor & outdoor sweater divisions, with an alluring choice of top quality, multi-weight sweaters for all occasions. Says Sales Director Doc Porter, The Après Light group is the perfect addition to the Icelandic collection. Now theres a wide array of sweaters to choose from for every occasion: skiing, working, dressier occasions, & now sweaters for everyday-wear. Its a virtual smorgasbord!"

Icelandics unique portfolio includes a blend of Classic European artistry with a contemporary, energetic palette. Their styles are elegant, unique and timeless. If a woman is photographed wearing our styles, she shouldnt be concerned about doubting her fashion sense twenty years from now. For that matter, she shouldnt be surprised if the sweater in the picture is still one of her favorites!"

Owner, Gerdur KristjánsdǾttir, recalls stories about women whove made it a ritual to buy one, two, even three of Icelandics unique sweaters every year; until theyve literally created their own private collection. Says Gerdur, Its wonderful to hear that, and such a leap from twenty years ago when I sold our sweaters to locals at small parties and fairs."

According to both early & present Icelandic tradition, women knitted for their families to express their love. Also a testimony was the originality, warmth and permanence of the garments they created. Traditional clothing of Iceland was inspired by the distinctive beauty of the Icelandic Landscape", says Gerdur, We are inspired by the same today. And in the early years of our company, our business practices were really pretty traditional. I hand-delivered these sweaters, right from the creative hands of my mother and our other Icelandic relations, to those of the buyer. Today, though weve added a few steps, we take a lot of pride in honoring this age-old tradition with our hand-woven apparel."

Now Icelandics wide distribution includes nearly 1,200 specialty stores in the U.S. and Canada, including Nordstrom, Gorsuch, Doneckers and Pendleton Woolen Mills.
