CSULB Is Teaming Up With The American Cancer Societys Long Beach Relay For Life!

Come watch the CSULB Womens Basketball Team and raise money for the American Cancer Societys Second Annual Relay For Life. On February 21st the CSULB Womens Basketball team will play UC Irvine and 50% of all ticket sales will be donated to the Long Beach Relay For Life.

(PRWEB) February 12, 2004 --The game starts at 7:30pm at the Pyramid and tickets are available in advance. Adults tickets are $6, and tickets for children are $1. Tickets are available at the CSULB Pyramid Box office, 562-985-4949, or on the website, www.longbeachstate.com.

Funds raised by the Long Beach Relay For Life enables the American Cancer Society to support local services for cancer patients and their families such as Reach to Recovery, a peer-to peer support program for women with breast cancer and I Can Cope," a series of classes to educate those touched by cancer. Funds also support critical cancer research and community education programs designed to teach people how to reduce their risk of developing cancer. The American Cancer Society has served the Long Beach community since the 1960s.

Teams of Long Beach residents will come together in a 24-hour relay against cancer at CSULB on April 23-24, 2004. Relay For Life is a family-oriented team event where participants can walk or run relay-style around the track and take part in fun activities off the track. Teams can include co-workers, club members, family and friends that gather donations prior to the event.

Relay For Life is a unique opportunity for the community to come together in the fight against cancer. Participants in last years relay included several teams of cancer survivors, families, and friends.
Relay For Life events will be held in more than 180 communities throughout California, raising nearly $20 million for the fight against cancer. The American Cancer Society is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
