eBay affiliate SPAM on search engines

In recent months spam from eBay affiliates have filled many search results old repackaged eBay listings.

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) February 14, 2004 --eBay affiliate spam pages flood search results on many search engines.

In recent months the quality of search results for merchandise, in particular antique and collectible related items have become quite poor. Search results are often flooded with old repackaged eBay listings from Web sites with names such as oldrarethings.com or CollectiManiac.com and hundreds of others. These sites are all part of the eBay affiliate program. eBay pays their affiliates to drive bidders and new users to eBay. In doing so, many search engines have become a dumping ground for eBay affiliates who are flooding the search engines with millions of pages of old and duplicate eBay listings. People searching the Web then find these pages on search engines such as Yahoo! and Google and get redirected to eBay. Legitimate Web sites with original content are being forced out or pushed back by eBay affiliate spam pages.

In less than an hour of searching, we found over a million eBay affiliate spam pages. To bring attention to the problem of eBay affiliates spamming the major search engines, we've set up a forum to post and keep a running total of spam pages found.
