Disciples of Christ Going to Cancun for Spring Break Mission, Launch Web Fund Raiser

A group of students calling themselves the Yucatan Mission Team announces it will go to Cancun, Mexico on a Christian mission for spring break. A variety of fund raisers are being implemented including an e-commerce web site.

(PRWEB) February 13, 2004 --Each spring hundreds of thousands of college aged coeds head off to Cancun, Mexico with nothing more than their skimpiest beachwear, some provocative dance club attire and a wad of cash on a pilgrimage which has now become known as simply SPRING BREAK. During the week long hiatus from books, lectures and the judgemental eyes of their parents, temptation gets the best of many spring breakers who drink excessively and participate in public acts of ludeness on a scale that would make Janet Jackson blush.

Thank goodness there's another side to this story. For Spring Break 2004, fourteen co-eds from Denver, CO will also pack up a few belongings and journey to the Yucatan region of Mexico.

However, the mission of this team of students will be a radically different from that of most spring breakers. Upon landing in Cancun, the mission team will head into the impoverished villages surrounding the lust-filled beach resort community. Here the youths will spend the next several days lifting, haulding and pounding enough building materials to provide shelter and greatly impact the lives of Mexican families - some of whom have been waiting many years for this work to be done. If time and resources permit, they also plan to help build a church. The students intend to sleep in hammocks.

For more information or to contribute to the mission's fundraiser visit www.yucatanmission.com.

The site's launch and hosting was funded by an anonymous member of Flatirons Church in Lafayette, CO - the church attended by student mission organizer Jim Kramer.
