International Fine Art Photography Exhibition

The Center for Fine Art Photography will host an exhibition of some of the worlds most exceptional fine art photography from June 29 through August 21 in Fort Collins, CO, USA.

Fort Collins, CO (PRWEB) February 13, 2004 --The Center for Fine Art Photography will host an exhibition of some of the worlds most exceptional fine art photography from June 29 through August 21 in Fort Collins, CO, USA.

The juried exhibition is open to professional and amateur photographers for work created in black and white or color, using traditional or digital methods or elements of both processes. Photographers will be vying for over six thousand dollars in cash awards and additional corporate merchandise awards.

Artists may download a prospectus from the Centers website: www.c4fap.org/callforentries.pdf. The deadline for submitting entries is April 21.

The selected photographers work will be on display in the main gallery of the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art. During the exhibition, the artists work will be available for sale during the height of the tourism season when thousands of vacationers visit the Colorado Front Range. Selected pieces will also appear in a catalogue designed for international distribution.

The entries will be juried by Mary Virginia Swanson who reviews portfolios at such events as Fotofest, Review Santa Fe and Photo Americas. Swanson has been jurying exhibitions for nearly twenty years, most recently for the Photo District News (PDN) Annual Awards and the exhibition Just Color in Philadelphia. Swanson is a leader in the fields of marketing and licensing fine art photography.

Photography is an art medium that is barely one hundred years old. Yet it is evolving into the most dynamic of the visual arts as it incorporates traditional and digital processes in addition to other graphic elements.

Larry Padgett, director of the Center, said, While the definition of fine art photography is frequently debated, the Center defines it as visual art created primarily for its aesthetics, design and intellectual enrichment, encompassing both the traditional and digital processes.

The Centers goal is to establish an internationally acclaimed venue for photographic education and exhibition. Its annual international exhibition is the Centers effort to showcase the work of leading and emerging photographers and to educate the public about the collectable value of fine art photography.

Guided viewing for student groups and others interested in learning more about the displayed work will be available throughout the exhibition period by appointment.

A public reception will be held on July 2. An artists reception at which the Juror will present the awards will be held on July 16.
