Alertcast Emergency Notification Service enhanced with web-based interface and major upgrade
Actual Software, Inc. announces a major upgrade to its industry leading Alertcast Emergency Notification Service including new core functionality and a new web interface that provides access to all core telephone based functionality and more.
(PRWEB) February 14, 2004 --Through a secure internet link to Alertcast, customers can now activate and control notification events to their recipients from any internet access point in real time. The web interface is fully integrated with the telephone interface to Alertcast and provides an easy to use interface to control events where hundreds or thousands of recipients will be notified in just a few minutes.
We recognize that in the event of a disaster such as 9/11, or this summers power grid failure, that an organizations infrastructure may be impaired and we want to provide multiple paths to launch a notification. It may be that in an emergency, users will have to activation their business continuity communications plan on the run via cell phone and monitor the situation via the internet when they get better situated," said Chris Boylan, president of Actual Software, Inc. As an off-site service provider we automatically convey inherent robustness to our customers and this upgrade enhances that."
Alertcast is a notification service that provides a means of notifying people quickly and reliably in an emergency. Business continuity planning demands good communication and Alertcast can get that message out to a variety of devices through a variety of methods -- whether its to cell phones, pagers or simply voice lines.
This upgrade is the most significant upgrade to Alertcast since 1994. In addition to the release of the web interface, the traditional phone interface to Alertcast was revised to reflect customer requests and actual usage patterns. Over the last ten years our customers have become pretty sophisticated about their needs and obviously since 9/11 that has accelerated" said company president Boylan. Thats why we went with a long early access program on our web interface. We knew that wed see differences in needs between training and actual emergency deployment and we wanted to have that experience and feedback before the general roll-out."
Alertcast is hosted in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Actual Softwares fully redundant platforms. Located in Burlington Northern Santa Fes (BNSF) former telecommunications facility, Alertcast is served by multiple carriers on both fiber and copper service out of two central offices. Combined with a redundant power solution, the facility has proved extremely reliable. Since Alertcast is a service without any deployment of hardware or software at the customer site, this is an inherently robust solution to virtually any companys communication needs when their infrastructure is impaired or simply unavailable.
