About Betsy's Place

Betsy's Place® was created in 1974 by current President Peter Singer's mother, Saralee. She began by baking date nut cakes in her New York City apartment as holiday gifts to friends. When her friends told her they were so great that she should go into business, she began selling them to an ever-expanding market of gourmet shops and specialty food stores. The business soon outgrew her tiny kitchen, so she rented a store on the second floor of a building.

Since her name was already in use by another bakery, she named the business Betsy's Place®, after her daughter, Peter's sister. Here she extended her product line to include cookies, brownies and cakes. Since then, Betsy's Place® has continued to expand and to supply the best stores in America with delicious baked desserts.
