International Festival of Cinema and Technology London and NYC Events
The International Festival of Cinema and Technology 2004 World Tour touring events will be taking place in London and New York this February. The festival seeks to showcase the best in "truly independent" cinema from around the world.
(PRWEB) February 16, 2004 --On the heels of its successful 2003 event in December, The International Festival of Cinema and Technology is returning to New York and London February 2004. The London event will be taking place February 21st at the Horse Hospital from 6pm-9pm. The New York event will consist of two nights of screenings of over 50 independent film shorts Sunday February 29th and Monday March 1st, starting at 6pm and running to 12am both nights. The IFCT 2004 New York event is part of the IFCT 2004 World Tour which will also take place in Orlando, Toronto, London, Brisbane and Sydney, Australia. Festival screenings will include comedies, dramas, animations, experimental films and documentaries.
Both the New York and London events will be taking place at unique screenings venues. The New York festival screenings will be taking place at the Remote Lounge Screening Room, 327 Bowery (@ 2nd street) which is a technologically enhanced atmosphere including video monitors and immersive cameras. Many of the festival selections will be presented on multiple monitors during the presentations. The London event will be held at the Horse Hospital which was cited recently in The Evening Standard as 'London's Real Home Of The Avant-Garde', and upon The Guardians website as 'The Alternative ICA.' Res Magazine labelled The Horse Hospital as "The showcase for the finest minds of its generation."
A variety of filmmakers will be at the New York event to discuss their works before the audience including French Director Delphine Dhilly, whose film "The B68" recreates the discovery of Brooklyn through the eyes of a foreigner; Writer/Director Robert Zimiga's film "Wakan," a tale about a young Native American man facing trials when he falls in love, will be having its New York Premiere; Mike Maloy (Director) and Karen Tapata (Producer) with the World Premiering "Bread with Gravy" an adaptation of a short story by Charles Bukowski which journeys through a night and a day in the life of a poet living the jazz life in Harlem; Colombian Director Jose Restrepo whose documentary film "Time to Be Born" will be making its New York Premiere at the festival. Other directors/producers present at the event include Russ Murray (10c a Minute), Natalie Paige Bentley (Butterfly Angels), Luis Pedron (Receptionist Smart), Pete McPartland, Jr. (Sunny and Diane), Ned Barbee (Otherwise Engaged), Olivier Bernier (Painting Emotions), Eric Lui (Microhubris), Joe Elias (Celebrity Minute), and William Walter (The Scotsman) and Walt Paliga (CosmoDuck) among others.
Various filmmakers will also be making appearances at the London event including Sarah Gross, the director of "Hinterlassen " a German film about "a bittersweet comedy about three siblings and their fight over the family inheritance." Allen George Duck, director of the comedy "Central Park Walk" will be in attendance at the London IFCT event; Tim Frewer the director of the comedic short "Highly Strung" will be accompanying his film; and U.K. Director Caradog James whose film "The Rainbow" will be making its World Premiere at this upcoming event and is a drama taking place in Iran with a cast of Iranian actors.
