Garrin Benfield selected along with Ani DiFranco and Michael Franti to be part of Pro-Peace Benefit CD!

Not in Our Name, a non-profit organization that promotes "peaceful resolutions to cultural differences" announces the release of it's compilation CD! The disc, which will be released on Broken Arrow Records has selected "Home" from Garrin Benfield's Nowhere is Brighter and will be available in stores nationwide and online beginning President's Day February 15. Other artists will include Ani DiFranco, Les Claypool, Charlie Hunter, Ozomatli and Michael Franti and Spearhead!

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2004 --Not in our Name" Benefit CD to be released. Garrin Benfield, Ani DiFranco, Michael Franti and other Acclaimed Artists Oppose Bushs Post-9/11 Policies. Broken Arrow Records has produced a CD entitled Not In Our Name, an all-star compilation that will benefit the Not In Our Name project.

The CD will be released on Presidents Day, February 16, 2004.

The project showcases musical contributions from a host of well-known and highly respected artists. Highlights include the title track from Ani DiFrancos new album, a rare remix from Michael Franti & Spearhead, a live Ozomatli cut, and recent releases from Charlie Hunter, Garrin Benfield (whos backing band on the song Home is shared with Bonnie Raitt) and Les Claypool.

The set also features a new recording of Jonatha Brookes War"; an unreleased collaboration between Latin jazz pianist Omar Sosa, producer Greg Landau (Susana Baca, John Santos) and vocalist Manny Martinez (Los Mocosos), and a song from Shana Morrison (Van Morrisons daughter) co-written with Narada Michael Walden. The trendsetting world-beat group the Looters reunited to remix their immigration camp tale Manzanar", and two new voices make stunning debuts: breaking R&B talent Martin Luther, whos currently on tour with the Roots.

The disc package exhibits poignant photography from Afghanistan and Iraq by embedded journalists Evan Wright (Rolling Stone), and Alexandra Boulat (National Geographic). Proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated to Not In Our Name. This will be the first in a series of compilations planned to benefit the organization.

Not In Our Name is an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization formed in response to the U.S. Governments actions in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Garrin Benfield is a San Francisco based Singer/Songwriter who has been gaining national attention in recent years from near constant touring and on the basis of a strong Bay Area following. He is widely acclaimed as an accomplished guitarist, a provocative songwriter and a plaintive and beautiful singer. Benfield is also recognized for his penchant for improvisation.
