OS Security Provides a Solution for Microsofts Internet Explorer Confidential Information Vulnerability

OS Security introduces protection to prevent loss of confidential information when performing online banking or ecommerce activities using Internet Explorer and Secure Socket Layer. Users can be infected by just visiting a web site and never know that their information is being stolen. OS Security provides free downloadable protection for end users to identify and cleanup infected systems.

(PRWEB) February 23, 2004 --OS Security today announced how an existing IE vulnerability can allow the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption on Internet Explorer to be altered through any of the current attack techniques known as worms, viruses, buffer overflow or scripts. This causes the SSL function to forward confidential data to undesirable destinations when individuals perform on-line banking or purchasing at home using IE.

OS Security also announced a free downloadable protection module to end-users and a server solution for financial institutions to ensure their customers confidential information is secure before allowing them to perform ecommerce related transactions.

The OS Security Solution for Individual Users
OS Security provides a Desktop based Secure Transaction Module (STM-D) solution for individual desktop Windows computing environments. Users desiring protection can download the free Desktop Edition Secure Transaction Module (STM-D) application from their website at www.ossecurity.ca. The module verifies whether their system has been infected and will clean up any infection before providing an all clear message to allow the users peace-of-mind when performing their on-line transactions.

Users concerned about invasive attacks beyond secure transaction based activities can install OSsurance 3.0 that not only protects users for on-line transactions but also provides first wave protection against the current and future Win32 viruses, worms and spyware. OSsurance is a one- time software installation that protects a system from new attacks without the need for ongoing signature updates.

The OS Security Solution for Financial Markets
OS Security provides a server based Secure Transaction Module (STM-S) solution for financial institutions wishing to ensure their customers confidential data is maintained confidential.

The solution, which can fully integrate with the users current sign-on procedure, checks the users computer and if it is secure the user can then proceed with the usual sign-on procedure. However if in the verification process the STM-S procedure detects the users computing environment is insecure, it will provide the user with the indication that they are infected and prevents online transactions until their system is repaired. The user will be notified of how they can remove the infection by downloading the free Desktop Edition Secure Transaction Module (STM-D). The module verifies the infection and enables the removal of the infection allowing the user to perform their on-line transactions.
