San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 21, 2004 --The Pigman Gallery at 72 Tehama Street (One block south of Howard between 1st and 2nd) will feature the mixed media, oil on canvas and graffiti work of Kendall Karam and Kolin Wade. Karam is a portrait artist who employs a technique known as curved space geometry. She mentally analyzes spatial relationships and creates geometric forms. Karam incorporates graffiti art in many of her pieces because she feels that it invokes the same understanding of space that her portraits reflect. Karams mission in life is to bring the arts and sciences together and to help foster a collective species without greed.
Wade, a San Francisco Native and self-described Urban Mountaineer," is a mixed media artist who lives by one rule: to teach what I have been taught in order to make the world a better environment."
Both artists are members of an organization known as Urbankolor. Their mission is to recognize where every artist of every ages individual talent lies, and to bring each individuals vision to fruition.
They consider the arts not only to be paintings but a part of everyday life including food, health, law, woodwork, horticulture, clothing design, architecture, sculpture, furniture and human interaction (or business).
Karam is currently an art instructor and program developer at the Hunters Point Community Youth Park in San Francisco. She teaches painting and is in the process of developing a program for supplying nutritious food, life skills and an art program for a community that is in great need of education. The arts program will ultimately include painting, clothing design, horticulture, cooking, dance, outdoor leadership, woodwork, graphics, health and a college/work exchange program.
Thirty-five percent of the art sold will go directly to this youth program and to Urbankolor. Some pieces in the show feature the following contributing artists; L.Kim, Kolin, Zack, Doer, Naeme, Danielle, Toast, Kutz, Ride, Loer, Bear, Rubs, Merph, Silk, WPF, Chue, Nature, Chronic, Victor, Pablo, Reish, Me Folks, and Bro.
The reception for the artist at the Pigman Gallery is on March 4th from 6-8 PM, and the show will be up until April 1st. The Pigman Gallery is for artist in the kingdom.
