Danney Ball To Boycott California GOP Convention: Declines To Participate In U.S. Senate Candidate Forum
HEMET, CA (PRWEB) February 22, 2004 --Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Danney Ball, who has campaigned in all of California's 58 counties in his bid to replace U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer has decided not to participate in this Saturday's candidate forum at the party's state convention in Burlingame.
Ball who is a social and fiscal conservative and the only republican in the race who has both run in a statewide campaign, and actively worked to recall Gray Davis, said he is dissatisfied with the parties lack of support in the race in spite of their claim that replacing Boxer is a top priority.
"The California Republican party couldn't care less about this senate race", said Ball. "I am aware that the party does not endorse during the primary phase of any contested race, but the total lack of encouragement and communication in this contest is deplorable", Ball continued. "With friends like the republican party, who needs opponents to fight with?"
There are ten republicans running for a chance to challenge Barbara Boxer in November. Danney Ball was the first to be certified by the secretary of state, first to announce for the race, and first to begin campaigning in his mobile campaign headquarters diesel RV. He spoke at the GOP Spring convention and at the Riverside County Republican Unity Dinner.
"We are running a great grass-roots statewide campaign with no paid staff", said Ball. "Our signs are up, we are speaking to groups every day, and continuing to do radio interviews and candidate forums several times a week", Ball continued. "Attending this convention would be to support the terrible way the republican party treats good candidates who are willing to step up to the plate and use their time, talent, and resources to run for political office".
"Because of our early entry into the contest, and because the ten republican candidates will split the available votes, our chances of a Danney Ball win increase with each passing day". said Ball.
Danney Ball is the only candidate who is willing to talk about his position against abortion, his stand on deporting illegal aliens, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's lack of courage to stand up against the illegal marriages now taking place in San Franciso. He is also the only candidate to speak up about the future implications regarding the unchecked growth of the gaming industry in California.
