James Cameron Presented with Telsa Award at Eighth Annual Satellite Awards

Los Angeles, Calif. (PRWEB) February 22, 2004 --Academy Award Winning Director James Cameron (Titanic, The Terminator)was honored last night by the International Press Academy (IPA) and American Hero, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, with the Telsa Award at the 8th Annual Satellite Awards. Shown here accepting the Telsa from IPA member, actress Agata Gotova, Cameron received the award in recognition of visionary achievements in the world of digital technology and sound. Cameron joins other distinguished receipients of the Telsa, such as George Lucas, who was presented with the award last year. Also honored was Producer Arnon Milchan (Pretty Woman) with the Mary Pickford Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to the Entertainment Industry. Other recipients of Satellite Awards who were present to accept their awards were James Woods for his portrayal of Rudy Giuliani in "Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story," and James Sheridan for the Best Motion Picture Drama, "In America." Winners of Satellites included Sofia Coppola for Best Original Screenplay, Charlize Theron for Best Actress in a Drama, Sean Penn for Best Actor in a Drama, Diane Keaton for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy or Musical, Bill Murray for Best Actor in a Drama, Dijmon Honsou for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, Eugene Levy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, Maria Bello for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, and Patricia Clarkson for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy.

The Satellite Awards, in its eighth year, is sponsored by the International Press Academy, which was founded by ex-Hollywood Foreign Press Association (Golden Globes) member, Mirjana van Blaircom. While it awards it's "Satellite" trophies for television as well as film categories, it is often an successful early indicator of which artists and films will take home the Oscar at the next Academy Awards ceremony.
