Holidays in Crete for free for the disabled

THC is made a special 'holiday-for-free' offer to all new disabled users. The PR gives all the details of the offer and who are eligible.

Heraklion, Crete (PRWEB) February 24, 2004 --Therapeutic Holiday Centre, a Greek holiday charity serving the physically or mentally disabled, announced that holiday accommodation will be provided without any charges for all new users in 2004.

For over 13 years, Therapeutic Holiday Centre has been offering specialized holiday packages to people with; learning difficulties, autism, downs syndrome, mental disorder problems and other mental or physical disabilities, in Crete, Greece. Holidays in THC are combined with therapeutic activities, such as Therapeutic Riding, Occupational Therapy, Trekking and Animal Care.

Eligible for the offer are children or adults in groups (not individuals) with some kind of disability, coming from any European Union country --except Greece. Applications can be done at the website of THC, www.therapeutic-holidays.org, or by requesting information and application pack at: THC, Villa Semeli, Karteros, Heraklion, Greece 71500.

The marketing director of THC, Lefteris Grammatikakis, announced the offer on Monday 10th of February, and explained that the holidays-for-free campaign aims to introduce the service to new users and to get more disabled people to go on holidays.

'Over 80% of our clients at the time are repetitive. We are confident that the majority holidaymakers that will visit us for their holidays in 2004 will come back to THC for their annual holiday break. We just want to introduce the service to new users with our holidays-for-free" offer said Mr Grammatikakis.

Another objective of the offer is to attract more disabled people to go on holidays abroad, the holiday co-ordinator explained. It is a fact that most North European mentally or physically disabled people are just not going for holidays to the sunny southern Europe destinations. 'For sure people which would never considered the idea of having holidays abroad will be attracted with the holidays-for-free" offer. It is an incentive to go abroad for leisure that everybody would consider concluded Mr Grammatikakis.

The greatest problem people with special needs are facing, when it comes to traveling, is that the majority of the holiday resorts are not prepared to accept physically disabled holidaymakers because of accessibility inadequacies. People with mental disabilities are often not welcome because most hotels and leisure resorts do not have suitably trained staff capable in dealing with the special needs of those people.

Such problems have kept a great number of those challenged-by-life children and adults home every summer. Hopefully, specialiced holiday resorts, such as Therapeutic Holiday Centre, will make leisure an easier and possible matter for such people with individual special needs.
