(PRWEB) February 24, 2004 --During 1945 to 1991, a Cold War" existed between the United States and the Soviet Union. This cold war lacked the blood and gore found on a battlefield, none the less it was just as intense. The warriors of this war used their minds as weapons and their ingenuity as ammunition. This is the story of some of those warriors.
Carl is a young Avionics Airman, a fast burner", married with one child, stationed in England and having financial difficulty. He is approached by a Phinney Logger, a man with an Australian accent and is befriended. Carl is not aware that the man in reality is Anatoli Popov, a Soviet spotting agent out to recruit spies for the Soviet military intelligence organization, GRU. The relationship solidifies but Carl reports the incident to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) which initiates a counter-intelligence investigation. Carl is promoted to Staff Sergeant and receives his orders to be assigned to Nellis AFB in Nevada. The Soviets, eager to possess an asset for the area recruits Carl prior to fully vetting him. As instructed by AFOSI, Carl agrees. GRU equips Carl with the tools of the trade and pays him handsomely. Carl, now at Nellis, has his control passed from Anatoli to another GRU officer. During coded transmissions with Carl, the Soviets let it slip that there is another spy in a sensitive area that Carls unit sends personnel to. This second spy, unknown to the Air Force, has limited access however Carl would have full access. After consideration, it is decided to use Carl to uncover the second spy. The second spy is lured into the open by manipulation of the GRU Officer through the use of some unique, although questionable techniques.
